Technical Listening Session Establishing PFAS Soil Remediation Standards in New Hampshire
NHDES hosted a technical listening session for stakeholders to provide their input on establishing PFAS Soil Remediation Standards (SRS) on December 8. The session began with a brief presentation on the technical challenges involved with establishing PFAS SRS, followed by an opportunity for stakeholders to provide oral comments to NHDES including technical opinions regarding means/methods or concerns, and considerations they have regarding establishing PFAS SRS.
Pursuant to RSA 485-H:13, NHDES is required to initiate rulemaking for Soil Remediation Standards (SRS) by November 1, 2023, for the four per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) currently regulated in groundwater and drinking water: perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS), perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), perfluoronanonoic acid (PFNA), and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA).
